Self-Discovery when Living with Intention
Julie’s Reflection Pause for this chapter is set out below in full, in her words. 9 questions to sit with, and a journal is all they ask for.
Reflection Pause: Connecting with Your Presence and Self Discovery
Julie prints this at the end of the chapter. It is here in her words, unedited.
It is important to reflect on the ways each of us may connect with our internal selves and discover our personal soul alignment to uncover our true purpose. Before we seek meaning, direction, or purpose, we are first asked to return to presence.
Much of our lives unfold in constant motion, planning, managing, responding, fixing, doing. Over time, this momentum may carry us away from ourselves. We may be functioning well, even appearing to thrive, caring for others and meeting the demands before us, while quietly losing touch with our own inner ground. Somewhere along the way, our connection to what feels true begins to thin.
This reflection pause is an invitation to come back not to a better version of yourself, but to the self that has never left.
Presence emerges when we allow ourselves to be with what is, without urgency or correction. Nothing needs to be mastered or achieved.
In this space of being, self-discovery arises gently.
You may begin to sense what feels aligned and what does not, what has been silenced, and what is asking for your attention.
This awareness does not come through effort or analysis, but through quiet listening.
A deeper alignment may begin to reveal itself, one that does not require striving, but allows peace, clarity, and compassion for yourself. Simply allowing this shift will enable you to show up each day to unfold into your divine, intended life and for it to open to a state of being rather than simply doing.
Please move gently through these reflections. Pause. Breathe. Trust:
- When in your life do you feel most present and connected to yourself, being calm, grounded, or at ease?
- What environments, activities, or relationships support that feeling?
- Where might you be living more from obligation, expectation, or habit rather than inner alignment?
- What does your body or intuition notice about this?
- What helps you return to yourself when you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or pulled in too many directions?
- What practices or moments create even a small sense of peace?
- Living with intention often begins with awareness rather than change.
What feels most important to you now, emotionally, spiritually, or relationally? - If you trusted your inner guidance more fully, what might you allow yourself to say yes to or no to now?
- Complete this sentence slowly:
Living with greater intention for me means ____________________.
Pause. Breathe. Notice what you discover without judgment.
Closing Integration
Alignment grows when we allow ourselves to listen inward and then honor what we hear with our choices.
