Live and Die Awake
Chapter 16

Living in Flow and Ease, Releasing Dis-Ease

Julie’s Reflection Pause for this chapter is set out below in full, in her words. 8 questions to sit with, and a journal is all they ask for.

From the book

Reflection Pause: Awakening to the Soul’s Connection to Ease

Julie prints this at the end of the chapter. It is here in her words, unedited.

Living and Dying Awake invites us to notice what is already happening within us, the body’s signals of being in ease or in resistance. The body will quietly guide us, and the deeper wisdom will emerge when we slow down enough to listen. Before reflecting, take one gentle breath and allow your attention to settle into your body.

Please move gently through these reflections:

  1. How have your experiences, both painful and meaningful, shaped who you are becoming today?
  2. What strengths or insights have emerged through what you have lived?
  3. The body often senses truth before the mind understands it. Where in your body do you notice ease, openness, or expansion right now, and where do you notice tension or contraction? What might this be showing you?
  4. Where in your life are you trying to control outcomes out of fear, rather than trusting the unfolding of life? What would it feel like to soften even slightly?
  5. Alignment often reveals itself through energy. What areas of your life feel draining or heavy, and what areas feel more natural, meaningful, or alive?
  6. What helps you reconnect with peace or presence when you feel overwhelmed? Is it stillness, meditation or prayer, being in nature, movement like yoga or breathwork, connection in relationship or self, or something completely different?
  7. Who are the people or relationships that support your growth, healing, and authenticity?
  8. Complete this sentence slowly:
Living with greater ease and alignment for me right now means ____________________.

Closing Integration

As we listen to the wisdom within and honor it with our choices, we naturally move toward greater ease, clarity, and alignment.
